Types of steel wire rope cores
在常温下,钢丝绳的绳芯主要分为三类:纤维绳芯、钢丝绳芯和金属(铁芯)绳芯。
At room temperature, the core of steel wire rope is mainly divided into three categories: fiber core, steel wire core, and metal (iron core) core.
纤维绳芯:纤维绳芯通常由天然纤维(如棉纱、黄麻或剑麻)或合成纤维(如聚乙烯、聚丙烯等)编织而成。纤维绳芯结构紧密,具有良好的储油能力和润滑、防腐功效。它能够减少钢丝绳在使用过程中因摩擦而产生的磨损,提高钢丝绳的使用寿命。然而,纤维绳芯的使用寿命相对较短,特别是在承受大压应力或高温环境下。
Fiber rope core: Fiber rope core is usually woven from natural fibers (such as cotton yarn, jute or sisal) or synthetic fibers (such as polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.). The fiber rope core has a tight structure, good oil storage capacity, lubrication, and anti-corrosion effects. It can reduce the wear and tear of steel wire ropes caused by friction during use, and improve the service life of steel wire ropes. However, the service life of fiber rope cores is relatively short, especially when subjected to high compressive stress or high temperature environments.

The additional tension provided by it makes the steel wire rope have a smaller elongation, enhancing the stability of the overall structure.

Metal (iron core) rope core: Metal rope cores, especially heat-treated iron cores, have high wear resistance and tensile strength. It can maintain the stability and strength of steel wire ropes in extreme environments, but also has the problem of relatively short service life.
